ABOUT THE TRIP
Have you ever thought you could ski in Mexico? Pico de Orizaba (18,491ft/5,636m) is the highest point in Mexico and the third highest point in North America. The glaciers in Mexico make this an objective of any traveling ski mountaineer. This is a popular mountaineering objective on its own, but we chose the fun way down, skiing from the summit! If you're looking to introduce yourself to high-altitude skiing, this is a quality first step. Combine Pico De Orizaba with Mount Logan and Denali, skiing the three highest points in North America. I would recommend a stop at the beach after skiing with us on Pico!
On this trip, we focus on the cultural exchange of our encounters and what they can teach us. This trip is built for the ski mountaineer who enjoys the entire ascent through the elevation bands and their changes. If weather strikes or any unforeseen reasons to take the 4x4 vehicle straight up to 14,000’ camp, this is also a possibility.

You will need to make your own flight reservations to Anchorage, AK. Book airline reservations sooner vs later to secure the best rates to get to our starting point. Book your hotels for arrival if arriving a day early and staying a day late. Everything else on this trip such as lodging night one, ski plane flight, basecamp food, etc. will be included so you can focus on skiing.
We will pick you all up from the Anchorage International airport and then motor over to Talkeetna. A basic Itinerary for the trip is listed below and is subject to change due to weather and logistics. It’s imperative to be flexible in AK and goes hand in hand with having a great time up North. After this trip, you will make it back to work the following week with tired legs and minds at ease from an epic trip skiing on glaciers. -
If you cancel before June 1st of the year you are scheduled to ski with Mindful Mountaineering, I will keep 25% of the cost of the trip and refund you the remainder of your deposit paid. This 25% covers admin time and trip/life prep costs required to schedule the trip.
If you cancel after June 1st, I will keep the 50% deposit. If you cancel with late notice, I will end up with a hole in my schedule. This is a disappointing situation for all involved. For this reason, I highly recommend travel insurance. If you are canceling for medical reasons or an emergency of some kind, you should be reimbursed.
If you cancel within 30-days of your trip, you may lose your entire payment. I will do my best to refund as much as possible, but many of the wheels will have been set in motion. If I am able to not pay for items (such as food and gas) I expected to buy, or some businesses (like hotels or car rental places) don't demand full payment, I will certainly refund this portion of your payment. I will do my best to work with you so you lose as little money as possible. At the same time, I ask that you understand that as a small, high-quality, operation, I am severely affected by cancellations. Again, trip insurance goes a long way toward alleviating financial stress in this situation.
No refunds will be given within 30 days of the trip or while on the trip - all sales are final at this time.
No refunds will be given because of weather.
